10 Tips on how to use Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been the craze for quite some time and we can see why!  Coconut oil contains fatty acids and has had tons of research backing it as one of the healthiest foods on the market. 

Coconut oil can be use in so many different ways and can we just say it smells AHHHH-mazing! Here are our top 10 tips!

1. Eye makeup remover

Yes, coconut oil is a great option to remove eye makeup. Can we say Buh-bye to makeup wipes, sure they are quick and easy, but wiping around your eyes can cause sagging and wrinkles! Not to mention, wiping your eyes is an extremely sensitive area. Ummm will pass here at BikiniBOD HQ!


Place the coconut oil in your hands to liquify, gently use to rub off eye makeup remover in a circular motion while being gentle with the skin. Add warm water to remove coconut oil and use a soft towel to pat dry! If you take anything away from this post, PAT don't WIPE around your eyes!

2. Makeup brush cleaner

We have to admit we are so GUILTY of not cleaning our makeup brushes enough! Who has time right? Well, after doing some research on how much bacteria gets onto the brushes we are now sworn into a BikiniBOD pact to clean our brushes weekly! Bacteria can lead to some serious skin issues including acne! So join our pact and clean your brushes with us!


Place your coconut oil into a bowl and add warm water. Let it soak for up to 2 hours, remove each brush and place under running water to remove all coconut oil. Once you have thoroughly removed all coconut oil, place brushes on a towel and leave out to dry for 24 hours!

 3. Oil Pulling

Out of all the different ways to use coconut oil, this might be the most controversial of them all. Half of our BikiniBOD team loved this tip and the other half did not love!  Oil pulling has been around for years and can help to remove bacteria in your mouth. Oil pulling can also help reduce bad breath! Now, to explain why half of our team did not like oil pulling was because of the taste. 


Use 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and place in your mouth, wait for the oil to warm up and liquefy. Swish back and forth for 10-20 minutes and spit out, resume brushing your teeth afterwards!

4. Hair Masque

Does your hair need some love? Well, coconut oil is a great solution to give you soft, shiny beautiful hair with its rich antioxidants. Try this once a week at night!


Comb oil into dry hair, roots to ends and leave it in for the night. In the morning rinse out the coconut oil and use shampoo and conditioner to follow. After you shampoo if your hair still feels like it has coconut oil in it, we recommend a double cleanse before conditioning!

5. Massage Oil

Calling all spa beauties, this massage oil is for you! Coconut oil seaping into your skin will leave it super soft!


Massage into circular motions, paying extra attention to dryer areas on your skin!

6. Hand & Neck Moisturizer

 7. Weight Loss 

If you are looking to lose weight this season, start adding coconut oil into the mix. Coconut oil is high in medium chain triglycerides that metabolizes differntly in that boy than regular fats which is beneficial for the metabolism!

8. Cooking Oil

Coconut oil has a high smoking point of 350 degrees for cooking.

9. Lip Balm

Chapped lips aren't cute and let's just say, I wish I  knew about the benefits of coconut oil a few years ago especially during the cooler seasons. We suggest using daily!

10. Hormones

1 teaspoon of coconut oil per day can assist in keeping your hormones in balance. It assists in processing in estrogen and progeseterone to keep  your horomones in balance.
