5 Minute Makeup Routine for the Gym!

Who says the gym is no place for a made up face?

Hey, it’s simply a fact that when you look good, you feel good, and those good vibes just keeps on coming. Of all places, wouldn’t you want to feel great and perform even better at the gym? When there’s a cutie hanging around the dumbbells that can’t help but notice your impeccable Overhead Tricep Extension form, a little confidence boost might help you [finally] ask them out for a post-workout smoothie.

Gym makeup is not meant to imitate your Girls Night Out look. The key here is keeping things light, natural, and well-groomed, and the entire routine should take no more than five minutes. BikiniBOD and Skinny Glow have already given you stronger, shinier hair and your skin a natural, healthy glow, so complete the look with these simple touch-ups.

  1. Keep skin simple

Heavy foundation will clog pores and end up smeared all over the place, and you’re not going to the gym to mess around. Save the serious cover-up for Saturday night, and opt for a tinted moisturizer (bonus if it’s a mattifying formula!). You’ll even out your skin tone but will still allow it to breath as you blast belly fat and lift that booty.

If you’re concerned about hiding that renegade zit on your cheek, lightly spot treat with a cream concealer. It will camouflage any redness but won’t budge even while you sweat.

  1. Brows never quit

Want to look instantly polished, put together, and as though you could bench press your body weight no problem?

Groom your brows.

A brow pencil in a shade slightly lighter than your natural eyebrow color will fill in sparse areas and create definition without looking too “done.” Unlike cream or powder formulas, the wax in eyebrow pencils won’t slide off your face after a particularly intense HIIT circuit and will last even when you decide to throw an extra round of burpees into the mix.

  1. Embrace the glow

After just a couple minutes of heart-pumping exercise, you’re going to give yourself a natural flush that no blush can touch. That being said, a soft glow is always a nice starting point. Give your brighter shades a rest and reach for something lighter or more tawny than your typical rose. Avoid looking like a clown school reject and exchange your favorite powder blush for a cream or gel formula that can be applied with a few quick taps on your cheeks.  

  1. Give that PR a little wink

At the gym, waterproof mascara is your best friend. Unless you want a dark mess running down your face faster than you just ran four miles on the treadmill, the waxes and/or polymers in waterproof formulas make sure that your look won’t budge. Save yourself time with the eyelash curler (they’ll just look too artificially crimped for the gym) and let your lashes fall as they naturally do.

  1. Blow extra calories a kiss

There is no reason for a bold red lip at the gym. Bright shades are going to smudge anyway, so save yourself the “Why so serious?” comparisons and swipe on a lightly tinted balm, instead. Boom, done. And FYI: extra-moisturizing picks are a great choice, as our lips normally get a bit drier as we’re huffing and puffing our way through a tough workout.
